The Nervous-System Reset Checklist

Twelve gentle ways back to a settled body—for the hard afternoons, the spiraling evenings, and the moments you cannot name but can deeply feel. Each takes under five minutes.

When your mind is spinning

For the frantic moments, anxiety, or a spiraling evening.

The Panoramic Soften

1 Min

Keep your head completely still. Look straight ahead, then slowly soften your eyes and expand your awareness to the far left and far right edges of your vision. Hold this wide view for 30 seconds to downshift your brainwaves.

The Physiological Sigh

1 Min

Take two quick, consecutive inhales through the nose (one deep inhale, followed immediately by a sharp top-off sip of air), then execute a long, slow sigh out through an open mouth. Repeat 3 times.

The Weighted Palms

2 Min

Sit back, rub your hands together vigorously until they feel warm, then place one warm palm firmly over your heart and the other flat over your lower belly. Close your eyes and simply feel the weight.

The Cold Intercept

30 Sec

Go to the sink and splash ice-cold water directly over your eyes and temples, or hold an ice cube firmly in each palm. This instantly triggers the mammalian dive reflex to drop an elevated heart rate.

When you feel completely heavy

For the hard afternoons, fatigue, or when you feel checked out.

The Somatic Tap

2 Min

Using loose fists or soft fingertips, gently tap your skin starting at your feet, moving up your legs, arms, chest, and shoulders. This micro-vibration reminds your brain where your physical body ends.

The Horizon Search

3 Min

Step to a window or walk outside. Intentionally look at the furthest object on the horizon—a distant mountain peak, a tree line, or a cloud. Let your eyes track the vastness to break screen-lock fatigue.

The Posture Rebound

1 Min

Stand up, reach your arms straight toward the sky, inhale deeply, and then drop your upper body completely forward into a loose ragdoll fold, letting your head and arms dangle like heavy weights.

The Orienting Look

2 Min

Sit quietly and let your neck slowly turn your head to look behind your left shoulder. Pause. Then slowly turn to look behind your right shoulder. Let your eyes confirm that you are safe in your space.

When you just need to ground

For structural anchoring, detachment, or low somatic presence.

The Box Pattern

4 Min

Inhale for 4 seconds, hold your lungs full for 4 seconds, exhale entirely for 4 seconds, and hold empty for 4 seconds. Visualize tracing the edges of a clean square. Repeat for four complete cycles.

The Floor Press

1 Min

Whether sitting or standing, push both feet as firmly as possible into the ground below you. Feel the structural resistance of the floor holding your weight, pushing back up against you with absolute stability.

The Ambient Auditory

2 Min

Close your eyes and focus strictly on the absolute furthest sound you can hear outside the room. Then, pull your attention back to the closest sound inside your room. Alternate three times.

The Joint Release

3 Min

Slowly roll your ankles in wide circles five times each way, then move to your wrists, and finally drop your chin to your chest for slow neck half-circles. Release the locked structural bracing in your joints.

Save this space.

You can keep this checklist saved directly to your phone files or generate a beautifully clean layout option to print out for your physical workspace.
